SCVNews.com | Zonta Club’s Annual ‘Say NO to Violence Against Women’ Campaign

The Santa Clarita Valley Zonta Club launched its annual “Zonta Says NO to Violence Against Women” campaign at SCV on March 8 at Swap Meet at Saugus Speedway. The campaign also appeared in the Newhol Library in the Old Town, in the Newhol Farmers’ Market and in the Library of Valencia.

The 2016 Zonta Says NO to Violence Against Women campaign includes a red dress display in Santa Clarita Valley to symbolize women who lost their lives in a year of domestic violence in Santa Clarita Valley. This year, eight red dresses are presented in the campaign.

The costumes are displayed outside, in public places, where they are lively due to the wind: weather. A terrible և inevitable symbol of bloodshed in our community. Residents can see these costumes at various locations in SCV.

These bright red symbols are meant to remind us of the reality of domestic violence that is taking place in our neighborhoods against our fellow citizens; it cannot be ignored. We should all strive to be ‘standing up, not watching’, that is, we should all speak up if we see or hear of domestic violence.

Teaching materials are available in English and Spanish. This program works in partnership with the Children և Family Center ծրագրի Santa Clarita Domestic Violence Program.

The campaign continues until May 5. You can meet SCV Zonta Club members և see the red dress project at the following locations:
