Wrong-way driver hits Oakland City-owned truck on Interstate 580

(cronA driver driving the wrong way on Interstate 580 on Sunday morning deliberately tried to hit another vehicle, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred near Seminary Road shortly after 7:00 am. A Ford F-150 driver was heading east on the westbound lane of his I-580. CHP does not know where the truck entered the highway from.

Witnesses told authorities that the driver intentionally attempted to collide head-on with another vehicle when it crashed into a Ford F-250 owned by the city of Oakland. The driver of the f-250 suffered minor injuries. Both drivers were taken to a local hospital for further treatment.

Traffic decreased in the area as lanes were closed for over an hour. Traffic was diverted to Seminary Road for backup after the crash.
