Santa Clarita County Sheriff’s Station staff participated in the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s annual torch relay, honoring fallen officers across the country.

The SCV MPs received the torch at the Stevenson Ranch MP Jake Kyurejian Memorial և and completed five legs ending on the Sierra Highway, where the torch was passed to Lancaster Sheriff’s staff.

The Memorial Torch Relay Run was created in 1975 to honor the brave and dedicated Los Angeles County peacekeeping officers who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.

The 58-foot-long jog started its uninterrupted journey from the Justice Center in downtown Los Angeles on Friday, May 20, and covered more than 300 miles over the weekend.

The torch was handed over to each of the Continental Sheriff’s stations within three days. About 2000 runners took part in the relay.

This year’s Memorial Torch Relay Run honored three fallen heroes.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Thomas Joseph Albanese; Detention Service Officer Michael Wall, Los Angeles County Probation և Police Officer II Jose Luis Anzora, Los Angeles Police Department.
