The deputies of Santa Clarita Sheriff are conducting an investigation into the two incidents that took place on the morning of April 26.

At approximately 8:15 a.m. that morning, a deadly assault was reported in the 24,900 block of Newholm Avenue, near the Boys ‘and Girls’ Club, during which a male juvenile was reportedly stabbed by another juvenile.

The deputies who arrived at the scene detained the potential suspect who received several knife wounds.

During the preliminary investigation, the deputies found out that two underage men confronted the victim and forcibly took a piece of jewelry from his hand. A short fight broke out, during which the victim stabbed one of the suspects. One of the suspects was taken to a local hospital with moderate injuries, but his condition is stable.

The deputies searched the area for the victim, the person of interest, who had fled before the deputy arrived. During the search, Hart Secondary School և Placerita Junior High School was placed in a “soft” lock as a precautionary measure.

The area was cleaned by the deputies, a victim was found, but the person of interest has not been noticed yet.

At approximately 8:30 a.m., a separate, unrelated incident occurred at Canyon Center Sierra Vista Junior High School when school administrators received a Text-A-Tip from a student who allegedly had a firearm in his backpack.

The student was immediately detained by the school administration and demanded by the law enforcement agencies.

The deputies who arrived at the scene contacted the student, as a result of which a short struggle started. Shortly afterwards, the deputies were able to arrest the student without any incident. As a precaution, medical staff were required to ensure that all persons involved received a proper medical evaluation.

The student’s property was searched and it turned out that he did not have a firearm. The deputies concluded that there was no credible threat.

At the moment, both investigations are going on. Anyone with any information on the incident should contact the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Sheriff’s Station at 661-260-4000. You can submit anonymous advice by calling LA Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS or visiting Crime Suspension Website.
