The Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation Department has announced that the Junior Lake Lifeguard Program will open online registration for participants on Saturday, March 19, to try out for the 2022 Summer Sessions.
Serving as one of the most successful water safety training programs in Los Angeles County, the well-known co-authoring program provides a challenging, exciting open water environment for children ages 9-17 who live miles away from shore to engage in water activities and learn. Essential skills for saving lies in a fun, unique environment.
The Junior Lake Lifeguard Program is offered in three Los Angeles County freshwater lakes located in the Castaic Lake Recreation Area, Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park, and Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area.
“The Junior Lake Lifeguard program gives young people the opportunity to explore career paths for LA County Parks Lakes և Aquatic projects,” said Chris Graham, Lake Rescue Chief of Los Angeles. “The program will provide participants with an inspiring experience through engaging activities designed to teach young people skills that can be applied to situations throughout their lives. “This is no other opportunity for young people to be active, to make new friends, to create memories, at the same time useful, to gain throughout life.”
The program is overseen by trained, certified rescue personnel who serve as educators, sharing their experiences, guiding them through hands-on activities that introduce young people to water safety, athletics, teamwork, and water sports careers. Young participants learn from a variety of activities, ranging from first aid, CPR, life-saving skills, and more.
Young participants are required to try out the program, if they did not participate in the 2021 program և must pass to register.

Morning session. 08:00 – 11:00 $ 350 uniform included.

Founded in 1990, the Los Angeles County Junior Lake Lifeguard Program has become one of the most successful water safety training programs in the Los Angeles area. Hundreds of junior lake rescuers participate in the program each year, gaining the skills to become a real lifeguard. Past participants continued to use Lake Lifeguards ‘skills and training in rescuers’ careers, even providing first aid to family members.
