SCVNews.com | L.A. County Public Health Warns Public of Contaminated Ecstasy Pills

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health warns parents and school officials about large amounts of fentanyl-soaked ecstasy pills entering the Los Angeles drug market.

The warning comes as three students in the Santa Monica Unified School District are recovering from an overdose after taking a powerful synthetic opioid drug.

According to officials, the three teenagers snorted crushed pills, which they thought were ecstasy. The blue round tables were ordered from online dealers, except for fentanyl, and were covered with a still unknown material. The victims all needed naloxone breathing tubes to fight the overdose.

Public Health reports that illegal “counterfeit pills contaminated with fentanyl, methamphetamine and other substances” are circulating in Los Angeles County, and overdose deaths have continued to rise at an alarming rate since the epidemic began. Be careful: take steps to prevent overdose.

Los Angeles County school officials strongly urge parents to discuss the dangers of making healthy choices and taking illicit drugs with your children, especially as the community enters the summer և holiday season.
