SCVNews.com | COVID Vaccines for Ages Six Months, Older to Roll Out Next Week Pending Approval

CDC harvestCDC harvestOn Saturday, June 18, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the United States will approve the six-month-old COVID-19 vaccine.

With this approval, the Los Angeles area will have more than 900 places to vaccinate, most of which will begin next week. This includes nearly 180 health care providers, such as pediatricians, more than 200 pharmacies, more than 500 mobile sites, and seven POD sites.

Parents and caregivers who plan to vaccinate their children at Public Health Centers should be aware of the following:

The COVID-19 vaccine is free.

If insured, individuals must bring their own health insurance card (COVID-19 vaccines remain free, regardless of insurance status).

Individuals will not be asked about their immigration status when vaccinated.

Appointments are not required in many places.

Parents and caregivers should also note that most pharmacies are only allowed to vaccinate people 3 years of age and older, but there may be several places where this is different.

The Santa Clarita Public Health Center will be open for visits once the CDC approves vaccinations for children 6 months and older.
