Canyons University will help address labor shortages by hosting a recruitment fest at the Diane G. Vanhook University Center on Friday, October 22nd.
Face-to-face events give job seekers the opportunity to meet one-on-one with their employer and discuss recruiting jobs and the hiring process in the form of speed interviews.
“The Recruitment Fest is an opportunity for job seekers and employers to get together and have meaningful interactions,” said Justin Wallace, director of business partnerships and workforce engagement at the university. “Our goal is to support the local business community while helping students and community members get back to work. Traditionally, job fairs are for interviewing potential employers. Although we don’t always allow dedicated time, our recruitment fest provides a 15-minute time frame for people to sign up and interview. “
Jobs across different industries include everything from entry to management level.
Recruitment Fest is a way to connect with business people from different industries. They aim to fill their positions now or in the near future.
To meet the employer, attendees must either book a place for a speed interview or visit with a company representative in the lobby. The employer offers a limited number of pre-booking of 15-minute interview slots.
Job seekers are strongly advised to dress professionally, bring their latest resume and be prepared to discuss their skills and experiences during a speed interview.
The event is open to the public for free and runs from 10 am to noon.
Current COC students are eligible to participate in the raffle to win a new laptop.
The University Career Center also hosts resume-building labs and preparatory workshops to help job seekers prepare for recruitment fests.
These free events are scheduled for the following dates and times.
Writing Lab Reopened: October 12-13, 10 am-4pm, Valencia Campus (Room X6) and online.
Preparatory Workshop: Tuesday, September 19th, 10 am-6pm, Valencia Campus (Canyons Hall 102, Career Center)
