SACRAMENTO – The California Department of Public Health is offering $ 10 million in grant funding through the newly launched KidsVaxGrant to increase access to the COVID-19 youth vaccine. This obliges health care providers covered by the state’s Vaccines for Children program to be eligible for up to $ 25,000 in funding at each location to extend working hours.

“Vaccines are the most powerful tool we have to protect our children, our communities, from the dangers of COVID-19,” said Dr. Mark Galli, secretary of the California Department of Health and Human Services. “This grant program will make COVID-19 vaccines more accessible to children and their families by recruiting new suppliers, supporting existing providers and extending working hours. As a father և pediatrician, I assure you that COVID-19 vaccines are safe և effective. “Please arrange for your family to be vaccinated today.”

Since its inception in 1995, the state’s Immunizations for Children program has played a significant role in vaccinating young people by providing vaccines for children at no extra cost to parents or guardians who may not be able to pay for them. The United States aims to increase the availability of the COVID-19 vaccine by recruiting additional suppliers to California’s COVID-19 immunization program, helping suppliers expand their working hours to make vaccinations more convenient for families. Longer Hours has partnered with Physicians for a Healthy California to run the KidsVaxGrant program across the state.

Newly registered Child Immunization providers who are part of the California COVID-19 Vaccine Program may be eligible to develop COVID-19 immunization services from any of the $ 10,000 KidVaxGrant funds on each site. Already registered VFC providers are also eligible to apply; they can receive a $ 15,000 grant for each site. The application deadline is May 27, 2022.

To be considered, suppliers must extend their working hours. Expanding the capacity of providers to open their doors outside of normal business hours allows for additional vaccination options for working families. During 60 days, working hours must be increased by at least 15 hours outside of standard working hours.
