First Note Play presents “Girls Powered. Valencia High School Benefit Concert at the Canyon High School Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, April 27, at 7:30 p.m. The event will raise funds for the Valencia High School Jazz Choir ծրագրի Health Program. The doors open at 7 p.m.

The concert is the culmination of the Girls owowered six-week fundraising program, which was recently attended by students. All proceeds from this concert will be donated to Valencia High School Choir’s Valencia High School Viking Wellness Program. Both programs have encountered difficulties due to the epidemic.

The Valencia High Choir program, led by choir director Christine Tavares-Mocha, has suffered funding losses due to cancellations of performances inherent in the program.

The choir turned to a number of online music programs to make up for some of the losses. Funding is needed to cover payments for paper music, recording engineers և services, original arrangements, accompanists և guest lecturers / master class clinical staff.

The Viking Health Program, led by Jacqueline Pershing, supports the educational outcomes of all student families և Valencia senior staff mental health, well-being, self-defense ական educational outcomes. The funds raised will help develop and implement early intervention interventions, as well as promote student health and academic achievement for all students.

Co-authors Sally Colon-Petrine, Founder of Girls Empowered, Tommy Jackson, co-sponsor and CEO of First Note Play, both of which are heavily involved in youth empowerment programs, have joined forces to bring this lucrative concert to Valencia High School.

The charity concert will feature performances by a number of well-known Los Angeles-based growing artists, including:

The Valencia High Choir program will also feature performances by Two ‘N Four և Soundwaves vocal jazz ensembles.

Girls Empowered is a six-week mentoring program to encourage, empower, and engage teenage girls in junior high and high school. The program was founded in 2019 by Sally Colon-Petrie, a certified transformational life coach, documentarian at Valencia High, a mother of two teenage daughters, who took action to see teenagers struggling with peer pressure, bullying, and low self-esteem. having tools to fight against it.

Girls Empowered provides resources for educational development և goal setting, community և promoting cultural awareness, identifying social media threats, behavioral և leadership skills և promoting a healthy lifestyle.

At the end of the program, the girls are greeted by Girls Empowered alumni, who are encouraged to “pay for it” as the new educator of the next generation of girls.
