Through a press release

The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Office will have additional deputies patrolling the city of Santa Clarita on May 11 from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The purpose of the motorcycle safety operation is to teach both motorcyclists and drivers the rules of the road.

May is #MotorycleAwareness month. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office encourages drivers and cyclists to share the road. The primary causes of a motorcycle accident are unsafe speed, improper turning, traffic violations, driving under the influence, and unsafe lane changes. Speeding is the most common, accounting for almost one-third of all crashes in the state.

Motorcyclists have the same rights and privileges as any other driver on our roads, but they can easily hide in our blind spots. Help keep motorcyclists safe by always giving extra time to look for motorcycles before changing lanes և Always keep a safe distance from your և motorcyclist և.

Motorcyclists are also responsible for ensuring the safety of our roads. When riding a motorcycle, make sure you stay visible by wearing bright clothing, a light-colored helmet, appropriate clothing, including a face helmet;

Whether you’re riding a motorcycle or driving a car, be sure to keep #HeadsUp և to avoid further distractions, such as using a cell phone. All motorcyclists, regardless of skill level, are encouraged to enroll in the California Motorcycling Safety Program. Information և training locations are available at: website or by calling 1-877 RIDE-411 (1-877-743-3411).

Motorcycle safety operations are funded through a grant from the California Department of Road Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
