The Child & Family Center will present the Purple Palooza 5K Walk to End Domestic Violence on Saturday, October 15th from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Center’s main facility at 21545 Center Pointe Parkway. The event will raise funds and create awareness during National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Proceeds are critical to supporting the Center’s Domestic Violence Program, which provides safety, shelter and support to survivors of domestic violence while working to break the cycle of abuse and build healthy relationships.

Walk-in registration opens at 8am. Before the ride begins, there will be lots of fun family activities including music, a pancake breakfast provided by the SCV Rotary Club, arts and crafts, face painting and much more.

The 3.2 mile walk will begin at 9:30am. The route follows the city’s sidewalks without crossing major intersections, has very little gradient and is easy for all ages.

The event will also include a Pup-A-Palooza. Bring your furry friends to walk with you. Admission is free for your pet and includes a special Wag Bag.

There will be a purple pet parade and a prize for the best purplest pet. Pets are often used to threaten or manipulate those in abusive relationships. Pup-a-Palooza gives pets a chance to join in raising awareness and shining a light on the dangers of domestic violence against pets in the home.

Walk registration for adults and children 12 and older is $40 and includes a donut breakfast, Swag Bag, finisher medal and $10 coupon for MB2 Entertainment. Children ages 5-12 are $20 and receive breakfast, a kid’s bag, a kid’s medal and a $10 voucher for MB2 Entertainment.

Increase your donation by creating or joining a fundraising team. Get prizes when you reach different cash levels. The event also needs volunteers.

Join our list of generous sponsors, which to date includes Barbara Cochran, Logix, SCV Rotary and MB2 Entertainment.
