Fresh, live farm produce և food arrives at Canyon Country Community Center every Wednesday evening from 4 to 8 pm, starting April 27th. The new Canyon Country Farmers Market will host farmers from Southern California as well as ready-to-eat foods. The market will be held in the Mercado area of the new Canyon Country Community Center.
“We saw the tremendous success of Saturday’s Newholm Farmers Market,” said Mayor Lauren Westen. “Farmers’ markets have proven to be a great way to unite our community while providing access to fresh, nutritious local produce. Bringing this new weekly event to our new Canyon Country Community Center has been a priority for the city. ”
The new farmer market will be run by Larry McClemens, a longtime Santa Clarita resident and current manager of Saturday Old Town Newhall Farmers Market. The Newhol Market will run every Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., along with Canyon Country Market on Wednesday.
The state of California strictly regulates the markets of certified farmers. All farmers can only sell what they grow. Farmers’ markets bypass traditional supply chains, which means that the products sold are often much fresher than those available elsewhere. The new Canyon Country Farmers Market will also include a number of locally licensed food craftsmen who will bring pre-packaged, as well as ready-to-eat, food to the community.
Canyon Country Farmers Market will be open all year round on Wednesday evenings from 4 to 8 pm Join us for the ribbon-cutting opening on April 27 at 3:30 p.m. Canyon Country Community Center is located at 18410 Sierra. Highway.
