As the summer season begins, the Santa Clarita Public Library is excited to announce the launch of its annual summer reading program. This year’s theme is “Read Beyond the Beaten Road,” which encourages residents to combine reading with camping, adventure, and skills development.

There are reading programs for adults, teens and children.

The Summer Reading Program offers Santa Clarita residents not only a range of online book challenges, but also outdoor activities, storytelling, hiking, garbage hunting, days in our local parks, and more.

Starting June 6, participants can spend the next seven weeks reading, completing online challenges, and participating in events in the city.

This year, the reading challenge will include audiobooks, short stories, comics, etc. in addition to traditional books. Participants will also receive a prize for each seven days of reading գործունեության activity completed. If participants have read for a total of 21 days or more, they can participate in the grand prize.

This year the Library is pleased to announce camp mascots for each branch of the Library. At Camp Newhole, campers will be known as the Blue Hedgehogs, at Canyon Country Jo Anne Darcy Branch, at Green Raccoons, and at the Valencia branch, Purple Possums. Get ready to show the spirit of your Library և collect buttons with each mascot.

For our residents who want to spend more time outdoors, the Library offers a range of programs for children, teens and adults in our local parks. Enjoy activities such as camping, DIY gardening, bike safety, and beekeeping.

Residents can pack their hiking boots and headlights on June 14 at 7:30 p.m. during the Super Moon Camping in Central Park. Participants will not only have a 360-degree view of the city, but also enjoy a sound bath on top of the hill. The Santa Clarita Public Library is also pleased to offer Lunch at the Library, a grant program that provides free, pre-packaged meals to 18-year-olds, younger children, and teens. Lunches will be available at Old Town Newhol և Canyon Country Jo Anne Darcy branches from Monday to Friday from noon to 1 p.m. No identification required, so please enjoy lunch at the library.
