San Francisco airport terminal evacuated due to bomb threat

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – San Francisco International Airport international terminal they were evacuated on Friday night as a result of a bomb threat and authorities found a fire device, authorities said. One person is under arrest.

The bomb threat was reported around 8:15 p.m., and authorities found a suspicious package, according to the San Francisco Police Department. Airport investigators “believed the item was on fire.” A man was arrested but other details were not immediately available.

The terminal was evacuated “cautiously,” police said. Hundreds of passengers had to leave the terminal.

The airport announced the evacuation on Twitter at 9:28 p.m., without giving details about police activity.

Airport AirTrain and Bay Area Rapid Transit trains were suspended. The airport’s BART station was closed by 8:42 p.m., he said a tweet from the transportation agency.

Passenger drop-off and pick-up were limited to the airport’s home terminals.

Additional information was not immediately available. An airport spokesman did not immediately return a request for comment.
