It’s the time of year again, guys – time for the San Diego County Fair! And not just a mini-exhibition like last year, but the fully loaded somewhat pre-pandemic exhibition. In fact, Del Mar has a few things up her sleeve this weekend in San Diego.

Sure, there are pop walks and stars and amazing cinnamon rolls, but there are more than 100 events a day to watch at San Diego County Exhibition. Some reflect the theme, Heroes Reunite, with voices in Comic-Con – how about a Superhero Academy? – and local law enforcement. Others, of course, bring together talented people from across the county who demonstrate their skills in the arts, crafts, photography, animal husbandry and more.

Opening weekend includes the Toast of the Coast Wine Festival on Saturday and the Out at the Fair, for the LBGTQ community on Sunday, along with performances by Shaggy on Friday, and Los Tigres del Norte on Sunday. Reminder: general admission to the weekend, which costs $ 20, must be purchased online This year.

Mostly Mozart opens it All-Star Orchestra Festival at 7:30 p.m. Friday with Mozart, of course, and Beethoven, with soloist Boris Allakhverdyan on clarinet. Pianist Gilles Vonsattel appears at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, but tickets are very limited. The festival runs until June 18 at the Del Mark Surf Cup Sports Park.

San Diegans, as always, love their beers. Here are two ways to enjoy this weekend:

  • The San Diego Brewers Guild hosts Beer weekend, since Friday, in more than 30 locations throughout the region. Taste specialty breweries for events and have a 25th anniversary glass at participating breweries such as Karl Strauss, Coronado Brewing Co., Belching Beaver and Northern Pine.
  • The 11th annual San Diego Brew Fest returns to NTC Park at 1pm on Saturday with foam, food trucks and music. The event, at Liberty Station NTC Park, includes 70 local and international craft beers. Tickets start at $ 50.

Has your dad gone crazy with the car? Catch the Father’s Day on Saturday at San Diego Car Museum Garage for sale. Check out a 1962 Chevrolet Impala SS Convertible or get on a DeLorean with $ 3 reduced entry. Take advantage of the discount by purchasing a car-themed souvenir at the Balboa Park Museum.

Do you like Art Walk but do you prefer a more intimate presentation? The event opens Summer Series in Little Italy at 11 a.m. Sunday at Plaza Della Famiglia on Date Street between Columbia Street and Kettner Avenue. The smaller edition, with up to 30 artists, continues alternately on Sundays until July 24th.
