San Diego Humane Society seeks public’s help in animal cruelty case

The San Diego Humane Society is asking for the public’s help in locating the owners of a young dog found with a chain embedded around its neck in the Webster neighborhood.

The dog, a 4-year-old Dogue de Bordeaux, was brought to the Humane Society’s Pilar and Chuck Bahde Medical Shelter by a good Samaritan on July 2, the organization said Wednesday.

“We’re hoping that someone can identify this dog and have seen something that can help our investigators,” said Bill Ganley, chief of humane law enforcement. “We would like to encourage the owner or owners to contact us to discuss this case.”

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest in the case. The anonymous tip line can be reached at (888) 580-8477. Report suspected animal cruelty or neglect to the San Diego Humane Society at (619) 299-7012.
