Samsung’s Galaxy SmartTag Plus with UWB to track items with AR is out April 16th

Samsung Galaxy Smart Tag Plus, a tile-like soup version of the company SmartTag Bluetooth tracker (Released earlier this year), currently has a release date: It will be available on April 16th for $ 39.99.

That’s $ 10 more than the standard SmartTag, which runs for $ 29.99, but SmartTag Plus has one notable improvement. With ultra-wideband (UWB) radio, users can track more accurately when closer than a standard Bluetooth setup. UWB radio actually enables the new AR mode. This helps to show the user exactly where the missing tags are.

To use the new UWB mode, you need both a Galaxy phone with a UWB compatible with Galaxy SmartTag Plus. This list currently includes the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, Galaxy S21 Plus, Galaxy S21 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold 2. ..

However, with the exception of UWB’s new features, SmartTag Plus works like a regular SmartTag, leveraging Samsung’s vast Bluetooth network to track missing objects.Similar to Apple’s Find My Network, Create a Bluetooth network using iPhone and iPad (and soon, thanks to recent extensions to third-party devices Find a tracker compatible with me From Chipolo).

The next release of the Galaxy SmartTag Plus means Samsung will be the first major AR-compatible UWB tracking accessory on the market, rather than Apple’s long-rumored AirTag. Apple is reportedly working on a similar UWB-based AR feature for future trackers, but despite a lot of leaks and rumors, the release date hasn’t been announced yet.
