A 22-year-old driver wreaked havoc on the streets of Salinas on Wednesday morning, leaving behind numerous wrecked vehicles, according to investigators.
At around 10 a.m., Bryan Zenteno was driving his 1996 Chevrolet Silverado and was driving a blue Lexus at the intersection of Eucalyptus and Circle units, police said. The collision caused the Lexus to get out of control with two people inside, police said.
Passengers suffered minor injuries.
The front license plate of the suspect vehicle fell off and was left at the scene. The back door of the Lexus was also stuck to the suspect’s vehicle, police said.
In addition, police say several witnesses identified Zenteno as the reckless driver.
Zenteno continued to forge a path of destruction and got into a car parked in the 100 block of Oregon Street. Afterwards, the parked car crashed into two other parked cars.
The door of the Lexus fell off Zenteno’s truck after it struck the parked car, according to police.
Zenteno then overflowed another vehicle at the Sanborn Road intersection in Oregon. The driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital.
Zenteno’s vehicle was finally found in front of his house; however, he was not at home.
Several hours later, officers found Zenteno back at his home. He was arrested and sent to the Monterey County Jail, where he faces several charges of assault and escape that resulted in injuries and damage.
His bail is set at $ 23,500. It is unclear if there were drugs or alcohol. He could be charged with crimes as early as Friday.
