Sac County code enforcement officer helps family from house fire

A Sacramento County code enforcement officer notified and helped a family evacuate their burning home, authorities said. The fire broke out at 8401 Stevenson Avenue in south Sacramento Wednesday afternoon, the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department said. The photos show the back of the house that was destroyed by the fire. The Red Cross is helping seven people displaced by the fire. The fire briefly threatened the adjacent unoccupied home, but the flames only covered the exterior wall of the home, Metro Fire said. Arson investigators determined the fire was started by an electrical problem, authorities said.
