Rob Manfred Says MLB Will Cancel Games Following Failed CBA Talks

The Major League Baseball season will not last 162 games this year … Commissioner Rob Manfred will now cancel the competitions after the league and its players have not ratified the new collective agreement.
Manfred made the announcement on Tuesday afternoon after talks in Florida … telling reporters, “I’m going to cancel some regular season games.”
“We worked hard to avoid a result that is bad for our fans, bad players and bad clubs,” Manfred said.

The MLB committee said he would cancel the first two sets of the season … and hinted that there could be many more cancellations if the parties did not reach an agreement soon.
Manfred said both the league and its players worked tirelessly over the past week to try to reach an agreement to avoid that outcome … and he said MLB made a proposal he considered more than fair.
“The unfortunate thing,” he said, “perhaps the unfortunate thing is the deal we’ve offered to our players, offered huge benefits to our fans and players.”

Not a word about where the negotiations are going from now on and when the parties will sit down at the table again … but if the negotiations stop again – the Big League can be suspended indefinitely.
A hard day for baseball fans everywhere.
