Remaining migrant children at Pomona Fairplex emergency shelter reunited with family, sponsors, officials say

Pomona, CA (KABC)-All remaining migrant children in the Pomona Fairplex emergency shelter were scheduled to reunite with their families or sponsors by Tuesday.

The emergency shelter will be fully closed by November 19th.

More than 8,000 children have passed through shelters since its opening in May, according to a statement from LA County supervisor Hilda Solis.

“When I visited the site many times, I saw how personal this was for many caseworkers, nurses and educators. Their dedication to providing comprehensive care and service. It was extraordinary, “says Solis.

This facility was one of several facilities operated by the US Department of Health and Human Services in response to the influx of unaccompanied minors at the border.
