Rangers searching for 43-year-old hiker who went missing in Sequoia National Park

Sequoia National Park, CA (KFSN)-National Park Rangers are looking for a missing hiker in Sequoia National Park.

According to officials, 43-year-old Matthew Soak was walking on the High Sierra Trail between Caware Gap and Crescent Meadow Wednesday afternoon.

He was last seen around 1 pm. The Rangers say that when Soak walked off the trail, he broke up from his group and hiked towards Crescent Meadow.

Thoke had a black overnight backpack. He was believed to be wearing a light-colored shirt and shorts.

Soak has brown hair and brown eyes. His height is 6 feet.

Park officials require anyone hiking along the High Sierra Trail between Wednesday and Thursday to contact 888-677-2746 or SEKI_Dispatch@nps.gov.
