ONE Rancho Buena Vista High A student was arrested for bringing a pellet gun to school on Wednesday, authorities said.

Deputies went to campus at the 1600 block of Longhorn Drive in Vista at about 10:30 p.m. after a student reported a gun at school, according to San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.

By the time patrol personnel arrived, campus officials had identified and arrested a 14-year-old suspect, said Lt. Jeffrey Ford.

“A pellet gun was found in the student’s backpack,” Ford said. “There were no bullets in the pistol and no one was found during the search. “After further investigation, it was found that no threats were made during the incident.”

The teenager was arrested on suspicion of carrying a gun at school and was left in parental custody. The name and gender of the suspect were not disclosed.

“Because the suspect is a minor, the Sheriff’s Department cannot provide more information at this time,” the lieutenant said.
