GREENFIELD – Local police seized illegal guns, drugs and fireworks in Greenfield following a search related to a child pornography investigation.

Members of the South Monterey County Task Force executed a search warrant at a residence in the 300 block of Fifth Street on June 23, according to the Greenfield Police Department. The search was part of an ongoing child pornography investigation, police said.

During the search, officers located an unregistered “ghost” rifle, a loaded Springfield XD .45 pistol with a scratched serial number, over 250 rounds of handgun and rifle ammunition, 125 individually wrapped marijuana totaling over 6 pounds, more than 12 pounds of marijuana in large plastic bags, marijuana vaping cartridges and more than 100 pounds of illegal fireworks.

Gustavo Morales Castro, 35, of Greenfield, was identified as the owner of the firearms, marijuana and fireworks. Castro eluded the police for several weeks but was later arrested.

Last July 14, Castro appeared in court on charges related to illegal possession of firearms, sale of marijuana drugs and possession of dangerous fireworks.
