Several “Stop Asian Hate” rallies are scheduled for Saturday, March 27, in Los Angeles and Orange counties in response to rising violence against Asian-American Pacific Islands communities.
The solidarity march begins at 11am on Olympic Boulevards and Belend Streets in Koreatown, heads west on Olympic Boulevards to Normandy Avenue, and what the organizers claim as a “free speech rally” is 11:30 am. It will be held from 1 minute to 1 pm.
Scheduled participants include Congressman Judy Chu, D-Monterey Park, Chairman of the Asia-Pacific American Assembly, Holly Mitchell, Los Angeles City Council members Mark Ridley Thomas, John Lee, and Mitch. Includes offerings, Lisa for CNN hosts. Rin and actress Kelly Hu.
The march and rally are organized by the Korean American Federation of Los Angeles in collaboration with 20 community-based organizations.
The “Stop Anti-Asian Violence and Attack China” rally is scheduled for noon at the intersection of Los Angeles City Hall and Santa Monica Boulevard and La Sienega Boulevard in West Hollywood, and at 2:30 pm at Irvine City Hall.
The rally is part of “National Day” organized by the ANSWER Union, which claims itself as a coalition of anti-war and social justice. Answer with the acronym Act Now to Stop War and End Racism.
What the organizers describe as “community vigilance and healing space for grief and condemnation of violence against Asian Americans, misogyny, class discrimination, racism, and white supremacy” is from 5 pm to 8 pm Will be held at Barnes Park in Monterey Park.
Double masking is recommended as it requires a physical distance from the face mask.
The event is sponsored by SGV Progressive Action and claims to be “the grassroots group of San Gabriel Valley acting in solidarity with Black Lives Matter.”
