Pharma Bro Martin Shkreli Released From Prison, Now Smirking in Halfway House

The slandered pharma bro only served four years of his seven year sentence, but remember he was in prison not because he was a pharma bro, but because he was a securities fraud bro.

It’s been seven years since the hideously grinning dork Martin “Pharma Bro” Shkreli burst into our collective attention and rose to fame for raising the price of an antiparasitic drug from $13.50 to $750 per pill. He then acquired a pharmaceutical company in South San Francisco and increased the price of one of their medicines by 4,000%. He would continue harass womenSelect attention-grabbing battles with the Wu-Tang Clanand get thrown poop at UC Davis. (And recently he was portrayed in the Netflix series invent Annaemerged among a group of trash people that included Anna Delvey a restaurant scene in New York approx. 2015.)

But the sausage party was over in 2017 when Shkreli was arrested for securities fraudand was eventually sentenced to seven years in federal prison.

Shkreli demanded his release in April 2020 when the pandemic hit and claimed he could cure COVID or something. A judge laughed it out of court and kept Pharma Bro in his low-security prison in Allenwood, Pennsylvania.

But on Wednesday, CNBC reported that Shkreli was released from prisonand is now in a transitional home, the location of which has not been disclosed.

“I am pleased to report that Martin Shkreli has been released from Allenwood Prison and transferred to prison [Bureau of Prisons] Halfway House after completing all programs that allowed his sentence to be reduced,” his attorney Benjamin Brafman said in a statement. “While at Halfway House I encouraged Mr Shkreli not to make any further statement and he or I will not make any additional comments at this time.”

Did Pharma Bro listen to this advice? Of course not! As we see in the screenshot above, he posted on Facebook, “Getting out of a real jail is easier than getting out of a Twitter jail.”

His asshole buddy picked him up, but according to CNBC, Shkreli is still technically in “communal detention supervised by the [Pennsylvania Bureau of Prisons] Residential Reentry Management Office.”

“Communal detention means the inmate is either in domestic custody or in a Residential Reentry Center (RRC or Halfway House),” a spokesman for the bureau said in a statement. “Mr. Shkreli’s estimated release date from BOP custody is September 14, 2022. For security reasons, we are not discussing the conditions of individual inmates’ detention to include transfers or release plans.”

In other words, we’re likely safe from this sting until mid-September.
