Pet food company Sunshine Mills announces voluntary recall

New York-Pet food companies voluntarily collect some products due to the potential for high levels of mold by-products.

The US Food and Drug Administration posted an announcement from Sunshine Mills on Thursday.

It was sold under multiple brands at stores nationwide.

They include Triumph, Evolve, Wild Harvest, Nature Farms, Pure Being and Elm.

No illness has been reported, but the FDA states that the substance, aflatoxin, can be harmful to pets when taken in large amounts.

The retailer who received the recalled lot was contacted and asked to withdraw the lot from inventory and shelves.

Consumers who purchase the recalled product can discontinue use of the product and return the unused portion to the place of purchase for a full refund.
