Parents found guilty of felony involuntary manslaughter in Visalia baby’s death

BISALIA, California (KFSN) – Two parents have been found guilty of multiple charges in the case of their baby death in Visalia eight years ago.

Madelyn was three and a half months old when she died on October 16, 2014.

A major court has indicted Angela Jimenez-Ramirez and Daniel Ramirez for murder six years ago, after an autopsy by the late Dr. Gary Walter that same year found that the manner of death was homicide.

A new autopsy was performed by a physician who was called in to testify in the aftermath of Walter’s death before the trial was set to begin earlier this year. The new autopsy concluded that the cause of death was a blunt trauma to the head, but the manner of death was unclear.

On Tuesday, the Tulare County Attorney’s Office said Daniel Ramirez had been found guilty of manslaughter, child abuse and specific allegations of grievous bodily harm, and that he had committed intentional injury or death.

Prosecutors say Angela Jimenez-Ramirez was found guilty of manslaughter and child abuse, as well as the specific allegation that she committed intentional harm or injury resulting in death.

Angela Jimenez-Ramirez was released from prison on Wednesday for the time she had served under current sentencing instructions for her sentence.

Daniel Ramirez will remain in prison. He will be sentenced on May 24.
