Orlando Robinson declares for NBA Draft, in Chicago for NBA Combine

Reports from ESPN NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski have been confirmed that 7-foot Fresno State forward Orlando Robinson will be hired as an agent and will enter the Microsoft Surface 2022 NBA Draft Combine on May 18-20.

Fresno State Strategic Communications Director Stephen Trembley confirmed the news Tuesday, and that afternoon Robinson officially said goodbye in an Instagram post thanking the Fresno State coaching staff, academy, fans and teammates.

“Fresno State… I can not believe that three years have already passed. “Just yesterday I remember walking on campus saying to myself, ‘I could get used to it,'” he said.

During the 2021-22 season, Robinson scored 700 points, 301 rebounds and 103 assists. That was enough to make him one of the two players in NCAA history with at least 700 points, 300 rebounds and 100 assists in a season.

Robinson averaged 19.4 points and 8.4 rebounds per game that season. The Bulldogs scored 23-13 overall, winning The Basketball Classic and the 2021 Venue Twin Southern California Challenge.

Robinson was named MVP in both tournaments.

He was a finalist for the Lefty Driesell 2021-22 Award, given to the Division I’s top defensive player each year, and won the All-Mountain West and NABC All-District first team awards in 2022.

Robinson played with the Las Vegas Knicks, an Amateur Athletic Association (AAU) program, in high school before choosing to play for Fresno State against Boise State, Georgia Tech and Oregon. At the time, interest in him came from schools across the country.

In his first year as a bulldog he was the only member of the team to play – and start – in all 30 games. He started all 24 games of his second season, averaging 31.9 minutes and 14.6 points, 9.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.

Until the end of the season he flirted with the NBA declaring for the 2021 NBA draft, but did not hire an agent to maintain his eligibility to return to play for his youth season. In July 2021, he retired and returned to Fresno State for his last record-breaking season.

Now Robinson is one step closer to the trip to the NBA 2022 draft, which will take place on June 23. It is predicted that he will go late in the first round or at the beginning of the second, according to NBADraft.net.

Robinson’s Instagram story showed him arriving in Chicago for escort on Tuesday, but he promised his friends he would return to Fresno.

“I will never forget the time I spent in Fresno. And to all my friends who are waiting to get tacos [with] I do not worry. “I will be back soon,” he said.
