(AP) – A federal jury in San Francisco has awarded $ 504,000 to a one -legged jailer who was forced to jump into an office.
Wednesday’s decision comes amid a strong appeal filed by Vincent Bell against the city.
Bell is awaiting trial in the 2012 murder of a man who was stolen, shot and dumped on a San Francisco street.
Bell was jailed in 2018 when he was transferred to a “security cell.”
According to the suit, Bell was removed from his wheelchair and ordered to jump more than 60 feet to the office.
When he fell, he was taken down.
According to the city’s attorney’s office, the guards acted appropriately.
