One dead, two injured in Auckland shooting on Christmas Eve morning

One person was killed and two others injured in two shootings within two hours in East Auckland on Saturday morning, police said.

Police said the shooting did not appear to be related.

The shooting occurred around 9:25 a.m. at a gas station on 102nd Street and Kokusai Boulevard. The victim was found dead at the scene with a gunshot wound. Two suspects were spotted on the run. No arrests have been made.

The man’s name and age have not been released, and a motive for the shooting has not been determined.

Another shooting occurred at about 7:55 a.m. in the 1400 block on 16th Street. Police said two men were in the car when another car stopped beside them, and at least one occupant of the second car began shooting at the man.

One of the victims, a 24-year-old man, had his hand beaten. The other, a 25-year-old man, injured his leg. The shooter is searching.

A motive for the shooting has not been specified.

Oakland Police and Crime Stoppers are offering rewards of up to $10,000 for information leading to arrests in both shootings.
