To find out the differences in how Omicron and Delta treat patients, the researchers used a free mobile app called ZOE which has over 63,000 people vaccinated in the UK under 16 years of age. -99 reported COVID symptoms between June 2021 and January 2022.

For those who had two vaccines with an upgrade, Omicron symptoms took 4.4 days, compared to 7.7 for Delta – a difference of 3.3 days.

Author Cristina Menni of King’s College London says it was the first paper reviewed by their peers with a large number of participants who looked at different symbols of the two differences.
