Northbound Highway 99 closed in southwest Fresno following big rig crash

Fresno, CA (KFSN)-California Highway Patrol closed Northbound Highway 99 in southwestern Fresno after a crash involving a large rig on Thursday morning.

The crash occurred after 2 am near North Avenue.

CHP officials said the semi-truck driver was joining the freeway when he hit a green pickup on a landscaping trailer parked on his right shoulder.

The cicada was carrying a pastry, which spilled across the road. The driver was slightly injured.

No one else was injured.

Authorities have been at the crash site for several hours to clear the scene.

CHP has set up a detour for Northbound traffic to leave North Avenue. Drivers should expect some delay during their morning commute.
