You’re never too old to make love – and that’s exactly what the Northern Natomas couple want people to know. Last weekend, 97-year-old Carl Hammer and 95-year-old Reva Truitt were married where they met and they both live in The Village in Heritage Park Senior Living Community. They have been married for over 70 years and both have die. “We’ve been in love for almost five months now,” said Reva. Carl added, “We both have different doors. And we all have back doors!” They said they were shocked to have these unique butterflies later in life. “It happens, when two sparks ignite, you get a fire and that’s what we get,” Carl said. Reva added, “Right! And it’s amazing.” Reva began to notice Carl and began to sit next to him in the thick of it and they were close. He was married on June 18 only in spirit. In the eyes of the state, this is not a legal celebration, but instead, it is a time when their community and family will realize their true love. Together they form a large, loving family. grandchildren. Reva also has three children, nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and some great-grandchildren, but who counts? He used his time and new love to teach Reva his craft. All proceeds from Carl’s collection go to Rebuilding Together, a non-profit organization that helps low-income homeowners who need home renovations.

Last weekend, 97-year-old Carl Hammer and 95-year-old Reva Truitt tied the knot where they met and both live at The Village in Heritage Park Senior Living Community.

They have been married for over 70 years and have both died.

“We’ve been in love for almost five months now,” said Reva.

Carl added, “We both have two doors. And we all have back doors!”

They said they were surprised to find those types of butterflies later in their lives.

“It happens, when two sparks ignite, you get a fire and that’s what we get,” Carl said.

Reva added, “Right! And it’s amazing.”

Reva began to notice Carl and began to sit next to him in a happy hour and they quickly approached.

He was married on June 18 only in spirit. In the eyes of the state, this is not a legal ceremony, but rather, a time when their community and family will realize their true love.

Together they form a large, loving family.

Carl has three children, seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Reva also has three grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and some great-grandchildren, but who counts?

Carl is a well-known maker of California Fair blue-ribbon winning jams and has made and sold more than 1,500 bottles each year. He used his time and new love to teach Reva his craft.
