Nike makes full exit from Russia after suspending operations

Nik will close its operations in Russia completely, joining other international companies that have withdrawn from the country after the savage invasion of Ukraine.

Nike Inc. suspended operations three months ago in all Russian companies and stores it managed, but like other large corporations, it has tried to avoid putting workers in front of hardships.

“Our priority is to ensure that we are fully supporting our staff as we responsibly reduce our operations in the coming months,” the sportswear manufacturer said on Thursday.

Other companies, such as Starbucks and McDonald’s, have completely withdrawn from Russia.

Nike was the main equipment of major Russian athletes. The company made jerseys for the Russian national team, including the famous Russian men’s hockey team.

“Nike and the Federation worked together to design the kit. I hope this new jersey takes its rightful place in the history of national hockey and becomes a symbol of team spirit and pride. It will allow athletes to represent their country while watching the world,” said Vladislav Tretya , President of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation, 2013.
