Preparing for college, building healthy relationships and the role of social media in teen culture are just some of the topics to be discussed at this year’s Teen Leadership Summit (TLS), convened by the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council (MYAC). TLS will be held longer Saturday, March 19, 2022, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Summit High School (15551 Summit Ave.). Designed for 6th up to 12th classmates and their parents, TLS is a fun, engaging day with motivating speakers, encouraging mentors and influential workshops.

“The Adolescent Leadership Summit of the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council taught me how to be a full leader in my community, school and personal life,” said MYAC Member Alana Okonkwo. “I learned how to be ready for college and career, how to make a positive difference in my community and how to empower other young people. I look forward to attending the 2022 Adolescent Leadership Summit! ”

This year’s TLS will feature Felix Bobo from Unlimited University as the opening keynote speaker and Caleb Campbell from Teen Truth will be the closing speaker. Adolescents will have the opportunity to participate in interactive seminars on a variety of topics, including social media well-being, teamwork and relationships, mental health, leadership development, and career readiness. There will also be two parent workshops with a resource fair featuring local colleges and businesses.

“The Adolescent Leadership Summit has always been the main event during my membership as a MYAC member,” said MYAC Member Natalie Gutierrez. “From an energetic atmosphere, inspiring guest speakers, a community of like-minded young people and different seminars, I was able to explore how I can be a leader within my community. This event is perfect for any young person who wants to make a difference in their community! ”
