Pittsburg native Fega Onofeghara-Omoko, a multi-sport standout at Berean Christian High School, has signed with Cal Maritime men’s soccer, head coach Mike Carvalho announced.
Onofeghara-Omoko will join the Keelhaulers as a true freshman who plans to pursue a degree in marine engineering technology during her college career.
“I am blessed and excited to have this opportunity and share this experience with my family,” Onofeghara-Omoko said in a news release. “I want to thank God, my family and the coaches at Cal Maritime for the opportunity to play this game for another four years. I am excited to join this program and compete with my teammates. There are many players who end their sports career after high school. I am fortunate to continue playing the sport I love; this is a dream come true.’
Born in Nigeria before relocating to Northern California, Onofeghara-Omoko competed in six sports during her tenure at Walnut Creek-based Berean Christian: football, soccer, basketball, track and field, baseball and cross country.
During his final three seasons, members of the BCHS football program elected Onofeghara-Omoko as their team captain.
After receiving his degree, Onofeghara-Omo is interested in pursuing a career in the Coast Guard or the engineering industry.
“I chose Cal Maritime because it offered a major that was in line with my interests and offered me the opportunity to continue playing football,” Onofeghara-Omoko said. “To be able to continue my education and play sports at the collegiate level is truly a blessing.”
