Motorcyclist killed in crash near Lakeside identified

The motorcyclist who was killed last weekend when his bicycle collided with an SUV near Lakeside was identified as 36-year-old Kevin Carter, county officials said Wednesday.

The accident happened around 3:37 p.m. on Sunday, when the rider of a 2009 Harley-Davidson motorcycle headed south on Winter Gardens Boulevard crashed into the side of the driver of a 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer. .

The motorcyclist, a resident of Lakeside, was thrown from Harley and died on the spot, authorities said. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The 68-year-old man in Lakeside who was driving the Trailblazer was slightly injured but was not taken to hospital, the California Highway Patrol said.

Neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected of playing a role in the crash, according to the CHP.
