Both men fled Hawaii to California after Ruby was found dead in his concrete-filled tub at the rickety Hawaii Loa Ridge Gate community center in Honolulu.

Ruby’s body was also covered with coffee grounds under the concrete, according to police, to mask the smell of decay.

Honolulu police had visited Ruby’s home on Lelekepue Place in the gated community on Monday following a call for welfare after his brother – who lives on the mainland – said he had not seen any of the 730s since early February. year old had heard.

When officers arrived, they found Ruby’s 23-year-old lifelong friend, Baron. Ruby’s brother told police he was aware of their relationship.

Officials searched the three-bedroom house and bathed for the homeowner, but could not find him. But the police did see that the bath was full of a concrete substance.

Baron and Hannon were questioned by police Monday night, but were released early Tuesday morning without charges.

‘The first case was an investigation into missing persons. It was not a criminal case, ‘said Lieutenant Deena Thoemmes NBC News.

The police returned the next day to find that Baron and Hannon had fled.

When they examined the bath, they were overwhelmed by the smell of coffee.

“When we entered the apartment, we smelled coffee, no doubt,” Thoemmes of the Honolulu Police Department told NBC News.

As soon as officers began to smell human decay, they began to chip away at the concrete.

‘The body was in the self-contained tub and it was in a state of disintegration when we removed the concrete wall.’

On Wednesday, Baron was found under a bench seat on a Greyhound bus that was traveling to Mexico at 4 p.m. Police said the refugee had pulled a metal plate near the toilet and was crawling under the locked chair. Hannon was arrested in Inglewood near West Manchester Boulevard and South Oat Street intersection at 6pm PST.

Ruby lived in one of the most ‘premier residential neighborhoods’ in Hawaii’s Loa Ridge, where homes are currently for sale anywhere from $ 2.5 million to $ 27 million. The gated community – which consists of 557 houses – has been described as the ‘harbor of elegant and luxurious houses’ with spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean.

The mountain is located near Waikiki Beach and is located at the foothills of Ko’olau Mountain and near downtown Honolulu.

The community includes a tennis court, private roads with controlled access, a park with picnic tables, 24 hour security, a community building, and is part of the Homeowners Association.

Ruby’s own house had three bedrooms and three bathrooms and sat on the corner of the road. The lush house has a bright and rustic interior with light panels and dark, cherry wood that decorates most of the house.

The stucco house had a sense of Spanish style with a similar atmosphere to the interior with contrasting light foundation with a dark, shingled roof. The house was surrounded by lush green lawns and many palm trees overlooking the bright blue Pacific Ocean, which gave the perfect summer house feel.

The bathroom where he was found had a gray stone backsplash behind the tub, which matched the black cabinets under the sink and the tiles in the shower. The self-contained tub was oval in plain white with a high silver facet and surrounded by light gray floors and walls and a separate adjoining room for the toilet.
