Hammer attack, robbery suspect arrested

REDWOOD CITY – Police have announced the arrest of a 17-year-old boy in connection with a violent robbery in downtown Redwood City last month.

The incident, which took place on June 8 in a Jefferson Avenue underpass, affected two boys and involved multiple suspects, according to the Redwood City Police Department.

A police statement said one of the suspects hit two victims with a hammer and one suffered serious eye injuries.

The police department’s Downtown Services and Investigative Divisions worked together to identify the suspect who used the hammer, police said.

On Tuesday, the boy was arrested on felony charges of armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon and was placed in a San Mateo County juvenile hall. Police said they found evidence related to his alleged crimes at his home in Redwood City.
