Memorial Day events return across Solano County

Fairfield — Covid-19 was forced to cancel many traditional Memorial Day events in 2020, but those memories will return to the entire county this year.

The Sacramento Valley National Cemetery is looking for volunteers to help raise the flag on the cemetery from May 29th to 30th. The graveyard is located on 5810 Midway Road. Anyone interested in helping should contact the graveyard.

Private lease laying events are scheduled at the Cemetery near Dixon and the Benicia Arsenal Post Cemetery.

Several public events are scheduled for May 31st.

• Solano County Old Court: Fairfield-Suisun VFW Post 2333 will host the ceremony at 10 am. The courthouse is located at 580 Texas Street in Fairfield.
• Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery: Vacaville veterans will host the ceremony at 11:00 am. The cemetery is located on 522 Elmira Road in the countryside of Vacaville.
• Male Island Navy Cemetery: Ceremony begins at 9am
• Vallejo City Hall: The American Submarine Veterans Association will host a ceremony at 11:00 am behind the Vallejo City Hall at 555 Santa Clara Street.
• Rio Vista City Hall: The American Legion Post 178 will hold a ceremony at 11:00 am on Main Street 1 in front of the City Hall.
