A corpse flower blooms in the SF garden

San Francisco (cron) — A corpse flower nicknamed “Scarlett” bloomed at the San Francisco Garden.the actual named plant Amorphophallus Titaniumis known as the corpse flower because it smells like rotting flesh.

KRON4 meteorologist John Shrabble, who watched the flowers bloom, described the scent of the flowers as “strongly fragrant.”

According to SF Hanazono, Titan Alum plants usually flower for the first time when the trees are seven to ten years old. Mature plants may then rebloom every 3-5 years.
