Police said a young man was stabbed in the stomach on Friday night when two groups took turns at Seaport Village in downtown San Diego.

The victims were seriously injured, but were not expected to be life-threatening, Sergeant San Diego Port Police. TD De La Peña said in a news release.

According to De La Pena, it happened around 7:40 pm on Friday at a tourist destination in San Diego Bay, away from Harvard Drive and the Pacific Highway. The victim was believed to be in his late teens or early twenties and told police that the two groups were in an escalated debate into a physical conflict.

During the battle, the victim was stabbed in the stomach and the person responsible for the stab fled, De La Pena said. At the end of Friday, no suspects were in custody and Harbor police were investigating the case.

Anyone with information about fighting and puncture wounds was urged to call the San Diego Port Police Station (619) 686-6272.
