Man sentenced to seven years in prison for fatal stabbing at Fallbrook plant nursery

A man who stabbed another man to death in a Fallbrook nursery last year was sentenced to seven years in prison on Thursday.

Luis Enrique Muniz, 57, pleaded guilty to manslaughter by allegedly stabbing to death Escondido resident Ismael Alberto Resendiz, 33, on August 7, 2021. Muniz had previously faced a homicide charge before being pronounced dead. .

The incident was first reported around 8 p.m. on Rainbow Creek Road near Rainbow Valley Avenue.

The deputies found Resentiz in the kindergarten with a knife wound to the chest, the sheriff’s officials said at the time. Resentiz was taken to hospital and died shortly after his arrival.

Muniz, who lived in the kindergarten, was also on the property, sheriff’s officials said.

Investigators have not revealed the suspected motive for the murder, nor the relationship, if any, between the suspect and the victim.
