Man pleads guilty to taking 2 baby bears from their den

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) – California wildlife officials say a Northern California man agreed to take two baby bears from their den and told officials after he couldn’t to take care of them he admits to the guilt of possessing some kind of forbidden thing.

They said 29 -year -old Cody Dylon Setzer and a colleague took the bears of the month from their burrow in 2019.

The baby bears have been taken to a rehabilitation center in Lake Tahoe and released into the wild by 2020.

Setzer pleaded guilty in Siskiyou Supreme Court in November to possession of a prohibited substance and obstructing a police officer during his duties.

The agency published the story Tuesday on its blog about the bears to encourage people who see wildlife theft to contact officials.
