A man from Bloomington was arrested when it was found that the vehicle he was driving in Fontana had been stolen, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
On March 23 at about 4:28 p.m., Deputy Smoot spotted the driver of a black truck committing several violations of the California Vehicle Code in the Arrow Route area and Almond Avenue in the unincorporated western area of Fontana. The MP has banned the implementation of traffic in the vehicle for minor offenses, which includes high speed and strong gas discharge.
During the stop it was found that the license plate had not been issued to the truck and had been taken by another vehicle to conceal the correct identification. Through additional data checks, Smoot discovered that the vehicle had been stolen by a Rialto resident on March 13th.
The vehicle was returned to the registered owner.
The suspect, Emanuel Ayala, 29, was arrested on charges of possessing a stolen vehicle and taken to the West Valley Detention Center. A female passenger was released at the scene pending review by the San Bernardino District Attorney’s Office.
