Man hospitalized after shooting in front of Ruth’s Chris Steak House at Fresno’s River Park, police say

FRESNO, California (KFSN) – Police are searching for the suspect who shot a man in front of a restaurant in Fresno’s River Park Mall.

The shooting took place just before 10pm outside Ruth’s Chris Steak House in Blackstone and El Paseo.

Police found a man in his 20s on the ground with gunshot wounds to the upper and lower body.

The victim was still breathing and was transported to the Community Regional Medical Center.

“Based on preliminary information, it appears that the victim and the suspect may have known each other. We are still trying to determine if this is real and real,” said Fresno Police Lt. Sky Lemby.

Police say the suspect got into a silver car and headed north on Blackstone.

The restaurant was open at the time of the shooting. No one else was injured.

Investigators spent hours all night searching for evidence at the site. Officials said they hoped the video surveillance at the mall would help their investigation.

Lieutenant Leibee told Action News that several units were investigating the incident, including the department’s Multi-Agency Gang Enforcement Consortium (MAGEC) team, to determine if the shooting may be gang-related.
