A man was stabbed to death in a National City motel on Thursday and a woman was arrested on suspicion of murder.
Patrol police who responded to an attack report shortly after 6am found the victim seriously injured in the East Ninth Street and L Avenue, a short distance from Motel 6 at East Plaza Boulevard’s square, according to National Police Directorate of the City.
Rescuers rushed the man to UCSD Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. His name was concealed pending family notice.
Based on testimonies and other evidence at the scene of the deadly attack, investigators arrested a woman who was later identified as 44-year-old Amalia Samaniego, according to a statement from the NCPD.
Police did not reveal further details about what led detectives to name Shamaniego as the suspected perpetrator, nor did they reveal any suspicious motive for the alleged murder.
“This is an ongoing investigation and no further information will be released at this time,” the department said late Thursday morning.
