Man beaten to death after trying to run over group of people in Hawthorne, police say

Hawthorne, Calif. (KABC)-According to police, a driver accused of trying to quarrel with a group of people in a car in Hawthorne was soon beaten to death.

It happened around 2am on Saturday at 14200 blocks in Hawthorne Boulevard near the Rockit Sports Lounge.

Investigators said a driver identified as 40-year-old Melgin Santos had been quarreled and expelled from the facility. At that time, police said he got into his car and tried to turn them over.

According to investigators, Santos eventually lost people, but crashed his car into a nearby building.

Police say four men pulled Santos out of the pickup and began attacking. They are now considered suspected of his death.

“Police officer Hawthorne saw the driver lying on the ground and suffering from what appeared to be a blunt trauma,” read a statement issued by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office supporting the investigation. “The paramedic provided life-saving measures, [Santos] It was pronounced that he died at the scene. “
